About CAP

The Chainstore Association of Pakistan (CAP) is incorporated with the Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan, under the Companies Act, 2017. CAP is a licensed Trade Organization under the prevailing laws of Pakistan, registered with the Ministry of Commerce, Government of Pakistan Vide License No. 272 issued by Directorate of Trade Organizations.

Chainstore Association of Pakistan is the largest trade body of organized retailers and represents over 200 of the most prominent retail businesses and SMEs in the country. The organized retail sector operates approximately 20,000 physical outlets and online stores. 1,000,000 people are either directly or indirectly employed by the sector.

Organized retailers, also known as chain-stores, have more than one retail outlet in the same city or multiple cities and are designated as ‘Tier-1 Retailers’ by the Federal Board of Revenue. Organized retailers conduct their retail business through brick-and-mortar stores and e-commerce.

Organized retailers operate in the documented or formal sector, are tax-compliant and have invested in industry best practices towards superior product quality, professional customer service, employee well-being and latest technology. In Pakistan, there are a few hundred organized retailers that have painstakingly built national brands as well as those that represent international brands with locations in popular markets and shopping malls across the country.

CAP and Pakistan’s fight against COVID-19

Countries with high mask usage have had 10x lower COVID -19 rates than other countries and Pakistan performed well in this regard and CAP is proud to have played a small part in this success.

Early on in 2020, through a massive initiative, 5 million masks were sourced, manufactured and distributed free-of-cost by CAP throughout the country through public and private networks.

CAP has access to the largest combined textile garments capacity in the country. In normal times this massive capacity is meant for Pakistani men, women and children wear locally produced garments of international standards. During the pandemic, this idle capacity was utilized to produce and distribute the largest number of masks by any private body in Pakistan.

CAP and its member Stylo sponsored greenery plantation to promote a balanced environment, in collaboration with Parks and Horticultural Authority (PHA) of the Government of Punjab

#CAPTHECURVE - Get Vaccinated Today

In addition to being the best example in Pakistan of following SOPs/NPIs from the beginning of the pandemic, CAP and its members ensured that the entire retail workforce was fully vaccinated against COVID-19 on a war footing to ensure safety of employees and customers alike.

The CAP community also used its collective marketing capabilities to educate Pakistanis nationwide to get vaccinated against the coronavirus to save lives and restore normalcy, in collaboration with the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC).

#WomenSafetyApp - CAP & PSCA join hands

In support of Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), CAP organized the awareness campaign of Women Safety App in the shopping malls of Lahore. The App is developed to help women get police help in any alarming situation for their safety. Learn more about the app on PSCA Website
